What effect will removing my EGR have? Ask Question 7. My 2003 Jetta TDI check engine light recently came on, and a scan by Advance Auto revealed code P0401 - EGR insufficient flow. I would strongly recommend against doing an 'EGR valve delete' the EGR valve assembly includes and anti-shudder valve that also gives you a way to shutdown a.
Hello chaps, after a bit of info on carrying out an EGR adaptation on my Passat 1.6 TDI bluemotion.Cut a long story short I recently changed the EGR and cooler assembly as I was getting 2 EGR fault codes. All was good for about 3 weeks then it started faulting again, only one code this time, P0407 signal too low.So I am clutching at straws and thought I would try an adaptation using the vcds but it doesn't appear to do anything. It is in the Basic settings block, Adaptation of EGR valve, when I hit go, the revs increase to 1500 but the status bar reads NOT RUNNING / TBD in green. I have tried from cold, warmed up a bit and a hot engine. I have also cleared any fault codes before hand.I don't seem to be able to find much info on this model car.It is UDS, 1.6l R4 CR td.Any help with adaptation or EGR info in general would be much appreciated.Thanks.Steve.

Hi Steve,I can't post any of the pics from the VW or Seat TPIs (copyright police could break the door down ) but you should be able to obtain a copy of the doc using. If this applies to your car the dealer may let you see a copy, couldn't hurt to ask. A few of the Google images looked close but based on hit I'm guessing that part is cheap at the local VW dealer. The document commented on the installation being critical, I'm assuming this prevents binding resulting in that DTC, so you might just to purchase the cap so you know what to look for and remove the one on your car. If basic settings is possible and the fault clears for a very short period in time it would be worth installing the new part IMO. I wouldn't want to drive it without the cap to avoid dirt contamination into a sensitive area.
