You did the correct thing in emailing the developer. Remember there is a lot that goes into making a game backward compatible. For example if only a few people suggest it most likely wont happen. When Microsoft used to havevoting for backward compatible games there would be thousands of votes before they considered getting with developer to make backward compatible.
